Personal Growth

Prep School Easter artworkAt Churchie we believe our role is more than to provide knowledge; it is to build character by developing the whole person through personal growth, scholastic attainment, community service and spiritual awareness. All of our activities, inside and outside of the classroom, help the young men of Churchie to grow in character by providing challenging learning experiences, building positive relationships and accepting shared responsibility for outcomes.

We aim to foster growth and development in the life of every young man by providing a comprehensive range of opportunities and activities. In developing positive relationships with peers and staff, students can maximise their opportunities for improvement and achievement.
Service is a key part of our approach to personal growth. As students come to understand that they are part of something greater than themselves, they gain value from serving those around them.

Opportunities abound for boys to exercise formal leadership across the school, through a responsive and dynamic student leadership and student council structure. The annual appointment of a student executive, prefects, house captains, activity captains, Prep School leaders and boarder prefects helps to produce service-oriented leadership experiences, which in turn encourage leadership in the wider community, beyond Churchie.

Inter-House, arts and sporting pursuits

Churchie Space CampThere is a wide and varied sports and activities programme in which boys can challenge and extend themselves.

Inter-house competitions and carnivals combined with opportunities to participate in interstate and overseas tours are available across our broad cocurricular programme.

The programme also includes a wide range of cultural activities. Boys can participate in choir, chess, music ensembles, drama productions, art shows, debating, camps and exchange programmes. Such programmes enable boys to express and develop their creativity.
