Drama

It is not often a group of secondary drama students is given the opportunity to enjoy an intimate and intense theatre experience, but this is certainly the case for our drama students.

Drama participants can become involved in staging full theatre productions or take part in theatre sports.

Drama productions

At Churchie, drama productions are run professionally, and students have the opportunity to take on a variety of roles and responsibilities either on or behind the stage.

The creative team comprises an artistic director/designer, assistant director, costume designer, prop manager, set designer, floor manager, producer, set constructer, stage manager and marketing manager.

A large cast of actors, orchestra and ensemble are also involved.

Theatresports

Theatresports is a demanding yet fun activity available through Churchie’s Drama Department. It requires quick wit, intellectual prowess and trained physicality to convey the immense creativity needed to achieve success. Churchie conducts several workshops for beginners and advanced players and enters teams in inter-school competitions.

In early 2013, Morris Hall was transformed into the magical world of Narnia for the student production of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This project brought the C.S. Lewis fantasy to life and involved 20 Somerville House and Churchie Years 11 and 12 students.

In 2014, Churchie Drama once again joined forces with Somerville House and staged an outstanding performance of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying in Morris Hall.

More recently Churchie Drama put on the iconic Grease which was a great success and sold out for the two nights of performance.
