Dr Alan Campbell was appointed eighth Headmaster of Anglican Church Grammar School (Churchie) from 1 January 2014 and believes that education should inspire young people to use their knowledge, talents and gifts to enthusiastically lead and serve others in local, national and global communities.
Beyond his role as Headmaster of Churchie, he is a Director on the Board of Independent Schools Queensland (ISQ), the peak state body for the independent schools sector in Queensland and is a Director of College Council of St John’s College, a residential, coeducational college, within The University of Queensland.
Following the completion of a Diploma in Teaching and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Queensland University of Technology and The University of Queensland respectively, Alan began teaching with majors in English Literature and Geographical Science embracing the ideals of providing a broad, liberal education.
A deep interest in lifelong learning, human motivation and performance, and teacher and school development, led him to complete postgraduate study in Masters and Doctoral programmes. High quality teaching programmes and vibrant, engaging curriculum development have been enthusiastically pursued throughout Alan’s career.
Alan holds memberships in the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO), the Headmasters' Conference (HMC) and the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD), the latter of which he is a graduate.
Alan retains a love of literature, music and sport and an enthusiastic involvement in recreational and charity cycling.
