Mr Russell McCart
Russell McCart attended Churchie from 1968 to 1974. He completed a BBus at QUT as a BHP cadet and left Australia in 1981 to pursue a career in yacht racing in the northern hemisphere. On his return in 1984, he worked in construction and development at Jennings. In 1993, Russell was recruited to start Mirvac Developments in Queensland and started his own company with two partners, Meridien in 1997. Meridien operated in marinas, apartment development, retirement and also built the student accommodation business, Unilodge. Meridien has evolved into Pacifica, a residential developer active in Queensland, WA and Papua New Guinea, where he is currently Chairman.
Russell has strong community involvement and has been Commodore of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron and served on the Board of Brothers Rugby Club. He was also the Patron of ‘Kids of Kokoda’, a charity in Papua New Guinea for the past 17 years, and was one of the founding participants in the military charity ‘Mates for Mates’.
Russell is married to Donna, a property lawyer who works part-time in Pacifica, and has four children. Two of his sons currently attend Churchie.
