Toby Ford is an Old Boy of the School (1972 to 1977). He was a boarder, his family having come from the Western Downs.
After completing his secondary studies, he was successful in entering into the undergraduate medicine course at University of Queensland in 1978, residing on campus at St John’s College. Early in his career he was seconded to the Royal Flying Doctor Service, Charleville Base, for a short contract where he cemented his interests in rural and remote medicine. He travelled overseas with his wife, Jenny, to study preventative health and wellbeing in the United States and United Kingdom before returning to Brisbane in 1987 to commence general practice.
In 1989, with three partners he founded the first corporate health business in Brisbane at Wesley Hospital. During 2001 he sold his interests there and began a new business, Ford Health, at St Andrew’s Hospital in Spring Hill. From this site he has expanded his organisation to deliver company health services across Australia in all states. He continues to practice medicine as part of his CEO role.
Toby is a keynote presenter in men’s health, resilience, wellbeing and preventative health.
Until recently, he was a coach in the Churchie Rowing Programme. He is married with two adult children and he continues to participate in Masters Rowing as a member of the Vikings Rowing Club.
