Mr Russell McCart
Russell McCart attended Churchie from 1968 to 1974. He completed a BBus at QUT as a BHP cadet and left Australia in 1981 to pursue a career in yacht racing in the northern hemisphere. On his return in 1984, he worked in construction and development at Jennings and then commenced with Mirvac in Queensland. In 1997 he started—with two partners—his own development company, Meridien, which evolved into Pacifica, where he is currently Chairman. He has developed almost 2,000 apartments, marinas and retirement villages. In 2013, he and his partners sold Unilodge, a 10,000-bed student accommodation business they created.
Russell is on the Board of Brothers Rugby Union Club, was a past Commodore of the Royal Queensland Yacht Squadron, a Patron of the Kids of Kokoda Society and one of the founding participants in Mates for Mates. He is still active in sailing, boxing and adventure hiking.
Russell is married to Donna, who is an ex-lawyer, and has four children. Two of his sons currently attend Churchie.
