
Private lessons are held once a week for 30 minutes each and operate on a rotating timetable throughout the academic year for students from Reception to Year 9 and at a fixed time outside of academic classes for students in Years 10, 11 and 12.
Paired 30-minute lessons are available for Year 4 students continuing on from the Year 3 String Programme as well as for new string students entering the School in Year 4.
Lessons of a longer duration (45 or 60 minutes) are available in consultation with the private teacher, provided they are timetabled outside of academic class time. Students undertaking higher-level examinations are encouraged to consider longer lessons.
Once enrolled, students must remain in the programme for at least one full semester.
Boys in Reception to Year 3 may learn the piano in consultation with their classroom teacher and the Head of Prep Music. Boys in Year 4 may learn the piano or a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, double bass).
Private lessons for boys in Years 6 to 12 are available for the following:

- percussion, drums, drum kit

*Due to the implemented Year 3 and Year 5 Instrumental Music Programmes, students are not offered the option of learning guitar until Year 6.
**Voice and Communication lessons commence from Year 5 so as to ensure maximum potential and benefit of the programme is gained.
