Private lessons are held once a week for 30 minutes each and operate on a rotating timetable throughout the academic year for students from Reception to Year 9 and at a fixed time outside of academic classes for students in Years 10, 11 and 12.
Paired 30-minute lessons are available for Year 4 students continuing on from the Year 3 String Programme as well as for new string students entering the School in Year 4.

Once enrolled, students must remain in the programme for at least one full semester.
Boys in Reception to Year 3 may learn the piano, in consultation with their classroom teacher and the Head of Prep Music. Boys in Year 4 may learn the piano or a string instrument (violin, viola, cello, double bass).
