Music scholarships are available for instrumentalists who have achieved at least Grade 5 AMEB performance on a wind instrument, Grade 6 on a string instrument, Grade 7 Contemporary Vocals or Grade 6 on piano. Applications for students playing French horn, bassoon, oboe and viola are actively encouraged.
Music scholarships are for students entering Years 7 and higher and provide remission of school fees through to Year 12. The level of scholarship awarded is dependent on the ability of the student and the needs of the School. Scholarships are awarded solely at the discretion of Anglican Church Grammar School. Competitive entry is based on audition and interview.
- Music excellence scholarship applications close Tuesday 12 March 2024.
- Auditions will be held from Tuesday 26 April to Thursday 28 April 2024.
The requirements for the audition are not dissimilar to that which would be undertaken for a normal AMEB exam.
The audition will consist of the following:
- two contrasting pieces to be played
- a sight-reading excerpt on an AMEB level consistent with the pieces selected
- some musicianship questions drawn from the pieces themselves
- aural tests consistent with the AMEB standard presented.
If students require an accompanist, this will need to be provided by parents.
