Farewell and thank you

Posted on 3 November 2021

The School was pleased to be represented by nine prefects from the Class of 2022 at the farewell ceremony for retiring Governor of Queensland, the Honourable Paul de Jersey and Mrs Kaye de Jersey held on Monday 1 November at Government House.

The images below capture our students farewelling Mr and Mrs de Jersey as they made their final journey from Government House, following seven years of exemplary service to the people of Queensland as Governor.

Mr and Mrs de Jersey have provided outstanding servant leadership to Queenslanders everywhere and have served with distinction and humility. They have sought to visit every region and community in Queensland and always brought encouragement and goodwill.

While the former Governor served for all Queenslanders, there was always a place reserved for school students, from all locations, at events and ceremonies.

Mr de Jersey made several trips to Churchie during his time in office and, among a range of duties, officially opened The Centenary Library in 2017.

I have no doubt that our incoming student leaders reflected upon the meaning of service and leadership during this special occasion and that they will be inspired towards achieving great things for their school community, their families and themselves in 2022 and beyond.
