GPS Football premiers

Posted on 24 June 2019

Congratulations to our First XI who achieved our first-ever GPS Football premiership last week.

With GPS Football entering the competition in 1991, this is the culmination of many years of developing a vigorous and competitive programme supported by the collective efforts of hundreds of boys, staff, coaches and parents. The development of the programme in recent years has been quite extraordinary and now features boys from Years 5 to 12 who simply love playing the game.

In particular, we congratulate Director of Football Mr Derek Lennon, who has led the programme for 12 years from its original home on Smith Field to the full expanse of The Pocket from 2013. We also extend congratulations and gratitude to the leadership of the team: Mr Warren Moon, Mr Joshua Di Bella and Mr Scott MacNicol, and we thank Lachlan Smith for his leadership as Captain of Football and Team Captain.

This year Churchie had its best performing season in 29 years of GPS Football. We set new school records in four of the eight rounds played and, on aggregate, our highest points total, wins and goals scored.
