Westech Field Days
Churchie was proud to be a gold sponsor of the 2021 Westech Field Days Barcaldine held from 7 to 8 September, celebrating our long history of educating country boys from central Queensland.
Headmaster Dr Alan Campbell, Chairman of the Board Dan O’Connor OAM, Foundation Chair Russell McCart, Head of Senior School Rod Olsen and Boarding Housemaster James Thorpe caught up with Churchie’s rural community over the two days.
Our portable digital archive was deployed for past students and their families to explore their Churchie connections back to the 1920s. Housemaster James Thorpe had a great conversation with 1970 School Captain Mr John Chandler, who was an outstanding sportsman and leader at the school and one of several Chandlers to have attended Churchie. Using the new digital archives, they were able to trace back every one of his entries in the 1970 Viking magazine.
We look forward to catching up with more rural and regional families at the ICPA Federal Conference in Longreach in November.
