Chess

Churchie’s Premier Chess team won their third consecutive GPS Premiership, which was secured for Churchie before the final round had been played. The GPS Chess trophy has been competed for 27 times since its 1995 instigation, with Churchie having won it a total of 14 times, 6 in the last 10 years. This is the second time we have won it for 3 consecutive years running, which is a considerable feat with the significant improvement we are seeing across chess in Queensland at all levels. Congratulations to the team, along with all Churchie Chess players and coaches.

Rugby

The First XV Rugby team attained a 3-way shared premiership on Saturday after defeating Brisbane State High School 57-5 in their final game of the competition. In what was a fantastic season, the team played exciting and positive rugby all year with the highlight defeating Nudgee College in round 3 at home. The Premiership is the first for Churchie since 2015 and the third rugby premiership this decade. We congratulate Captain Tom Stoddart and Coach Ryan Schultz along with all the players, coaches and support staff involved.
