Top three in track and field
Lachlan Cornelius, Oscar Cornelius, Harry Cool and Rory Easton

On Friday 21 October, Churchie’s senior team achieved their first top-three finish at the GPS Track and Field Championships since 2010, finishing in third place with 367 points.

The team produced 43 personal bests across the 62 individual events—a wonderful achievement from a dedicated and resilient team, especially considering the wet conditions on the day.

First-place finishes included Rory Easton (Open 110 m hurdles and Open 100 m), Jack Love (All age 400 m hurdles), Noah Tyne (15 Years 1500 m) and the Churchie Open 4×400 m relay team comprising Oscar Cornelius, Harry Cool, Rory Easton, Lachlan Cornelius. Rory Easton set a new GPS record for the Open GPS 100 m race in a time of 10.46 seconds, surpassing the previous record of 10.66 seconds set in 2018.

Our Prep School athletes also did a superb job in the Junior GPS Track and Field Championships, coming third overall. Some outstanding performances were achieved throughout the day, including that of Charlie Lopes, who broke the GPS record for the Under 10 80 m hurdles.
