Creativity and confidence on display

The learning journey for Year 6 students at Churchie culminated in the PYP* Exhibition (PYPx) and Prep School Art Exhibition, held last week. The events demonstrated the transformative impact of learning across many curriculum areas, highlighting how they embraced challenges, took risks and confidently communicated their ideas – a significant milestone in their education.

The PYPx centred on the idea that ‘systems support lives,’ with students delving into themes such as ecosystems, transportation and health. Boys engaged in critical thinking, collaboration and problem solving to investigate how these systems sustain and enhance lives, while also identifying opportunities for improvement. Their research and presentations demonstrated a deep conceptual understanding of the topics.

The exhibition welcomed fellow students, family and friends to view the displays, with the boys eager to share knowledge and celebrate their solutions. The students’ ability to confidently articulate their insights reflected their growth as knowledgeable, inquiring and effective communicators.

Complementing this was the Prep School Art Exhibition, where the boys showcased their creativity and self-expression through diverse mediums. From bold paintings to intricate sculptures, each piece told a story of exploration and inspiration.

Both exhibitions celebrated the students’ dedication and the skills they developed throughout the term, including research, thinking, communication and self-management.

These experiences laid a strong foundation as the students prepare to transition into Year 7, ready to refine and expand their learning journey in the Senior School.
